וייצר יהוה אלהים את האדם עפר מן האדמה ויפח באפיו נשמת חיים ויהי האדם לנפש חיה׃

And YHWH Elohim formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and Adam became a living soul.

וַיִּיצֶר יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָֽאָדָם עָפָר מִן־הָאֲדָמָה וַיִּפַּח בְּאַפָּיו נִשְׁמַת חַיִּים וַֽיְהִי הָֽאָדָם לְנֶפֶשׁ חַיָּֽה׃

* translated here as Adam instead of the Man. The 70 translators (LXX) translated Adam with definite article (הָֽאָדָם) as τὸν ἄνθρωπον (the man) as that is what it means in Hebrew. Jerome follows the Septuagint.
