Joshua 10:37

וַיִּלְכְּד֣וּהָ וַיַּכּֽוּהָ־לְפִי־֠חֶרֶב וְאֶת־מַלְכָּ֨הּ וְאֶת־כָּל־עָרֶ֜יהָ וְאֶת־כָּל־הַנֶּ֤פֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר־בָּהּ֙ לֹֽא־הִשְׁאִ֣יר שָׂרִ֔יד כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֖ה לְעֶגְלֹ֑ון וַיַּחֲרֵ֣ם אֹותָ֔הּ וְאֶת־כָּל־הַנֶּ֖פֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר־בָּֽהּ׃ ס

And they captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword, and its king, and all its cities, and all the souls that were in it. He left no survivor, according to all that he had done to ʿEglon, and he devoted it to destruction, and all the souls that were in it. 

 

Morphology

  1. וַיִּלְכְּד֣וּהָ (vayyilkeduha) – Root: לכד (lakad); Form: Qal wayyiqtol 3rd person masculine plural with 3rd person feminine singular suffix; Translation: “And they captured it”.
  2. וַיַּכּֽוּהָ־לְפִי־֠חֶרֶב (vayyakkuhu lefi ḥerev) – Root: נכה (nakah); Form: Hifil wayyiqtol 3rd person masculine plural with 3rd person feminine singular suffix; Translation: “And they struck it with the edge of the sword”.
